In order to make clear
to you what SOPHIOLOGY means, I must introduce you to some of the basic
principles that I propose to general science.
1. Matter is existence aiming to self-organization.
In fact, the self organization of matter takes place as a dynamic
equilibration between entropy and negentropy.
Entropy produces:
- the general expansion of Universe;
- the cosmic dissemination of stellar and planetary matter;
- the desegregation of galactic structures;
- fragmentation of stones and death of every living structure;
- oblivion in human minds;
and much more...
On the physical level of action, entropy is embodied by the
electromagnetic (radiant) force. Man discovered entropy a very long time
ago, when he realized than inanimate and living things around him grow
old and decay. But it took him a much longer time to discover
negentropy.
Negentropy produces:
- the contraction of the Universe;
- the formation of galactic, stellar and planetary bodies;
- the apparition and evolution of life;
- the existence and progress of man;
- and everything we love to name "stability", "perennity", "constancy"
a.s.o.
Nothing to wonder about, because man opened his eyes on a Universe that
seemed to be the stability itself: the Sun rising every day, the stars
lighting up every evening under the same patterns, landscapes remaining
unchanged over the decades of a human life... Who could ever imagine
that everything is undergoing a very ample process of evolution and
change? Well, it’s time now to accept that the self organization of
matter is determining the process that we all used to call evolution,
and that this self organization is determined on the physical level of
action by the nuclear and gravitational forces. These are the forces
that cause what we usually call negentropy, as briefly described above.
2. Negentropy gives birth to complex associative phenomena.
In the above paragraph you meet such ample and complex phenomena as
galaxies, stars, planets, minerals, life, man, human mind. What all
these phenomena have in common?
Quite simple to explain:
- all the phenomena we can submit to our study are complex, because they
always gather elements or phenomena from various levels of complexity
(we are yet very far away from discovering the primary elements that
could no more be split in simpler elements - making a paraphrase to
Democrit, discover the “ultimate atom”);
- same phenomena are associative as they gather elements or phenomena
from previous levels of existence (implicitly, from previous levels of
complexity), giving birth to a phenomena that always outgrows the
capabilities of the previously existing structures.
THIS IS THE TERM I PROPOSE FOR GENERAL USE WHEN WE TALK ABOUT THE FORMS
UNDER WHICH GOES THE DYNAMIC STRUCTURATION OF THE UNIVERSAL MATTER:
COMPLEX ASSOCIATIVE PHENOMENA (CAP).
Each of the two attributes of a CAP has a very precise justification:
- it is impossible to identify now a phenomenon that is not complex, in
other words that does not include at least two phenomena that preceded
it in the phylogenetic range. One of man’s great “discoveries” is the
atomic theory, which postulates the existence of the atom as a
primordial element that is indivisible. But it took “only” 2000 years to
the humankind to discover that the atom is perfectly divisible, fact
that pushes us to raise the question: how far are we going to go in
dividing the “indivisible” atom?
- the complexity is insured by the association of the constituting
elements of the CAP as result of the action of different forces (mainly
nuclear and gravitational ones for the physical systems). The main
characteristic of the association is stability, which corresponds
perfectly to the process we call negentropy, that creates lasting binds
between different compatible elements.
In my conception, CAPs are matter itself, because I cannot imagine
matter beyond the attributes of associability and complexity.
3. Life is nothing else than a CAP, the defining element of his
complexity being homeostasis.
We perceive the uninterrupted growth of the complexity of the life forms
as a logical strain that we currently name evolution. As the age of the
current phase of existence of the Universe is estimated to 18 billion
years, it is obvious that man is coexisting with a very large number of
CAPs, which offer him a field of investigation whose amplitude he is
only now able to perceive.
I must point out that, nevertheless, it is time now to look for the laws
that rule the existence of CAPs. I put these laws previously into light,
while carrying on a research on the relationship between ecology and
economics. The research was targeted on an entity “created” by me, and
which I named industriosphere, that is the specialized system created by
man to carry on his relations with the environment.
How was it possible to discover the laws that rule the existence of CAPs
and settle such a general science as SOPHIOLOGY?
It was possible because my research was aimed on two of the most complex
CAPs that man is able to know by direct approach: the terrestrial
ecosphere (including humankind and the natural environment) and the
industriosphere.
From this point of view I consider my position as being beyond argument:
the laws that rule the existence of CAPs are inspired by the study of
two of the most complex CAPs that exist in the Universe, and a simple
functional check shows us that these laws act on all the levels of
organization of matter, beginning with the atomic nuclei to finish with
metagalaxies.
